JEDD FAST FACTS!
WHAT is proposed:
- A 2.25% income tax would be placed on people who work in Austintown and portions of Boardman served by Youngstown water.
- Residents receiving Youngstown water in Austintown and Boardman will receive reduced water rates.
- Youngstown will provide economic development incentives with a dollar for dollar match on economic development projects along with professional coordination of services.
WHO is affected:
- Boardman and Austintown residents do not automatically have an income tax; they do receive reduced water rates.
- Boardman and Austintown residents who work in Youngstown will receive a reduction in income tax of .5%
- Anyone working in the JEDD districts will receive a 2.25% income tax, whether they live in Boardman and Austintown or not.
- All residents and businesses in the City of Youngstown will receive a reduction in income tax of .5%.
HOW it affects the Townships:
- Townships receive additional revenue for operating expenses.
- Townships have additional resources and opportunities to promote economic development to create new jobs.
- Townships preserve their character and governance structure.
- Townships receive a guarantee that they will not be annexed for the duration of the JEDD contract.
- School Districts remain the same.
- Property taxes are not affected.
- Residential areas are not affected.
